Michellia is a writer, translator, and editor with over a decade of experience across fiction and non-fiction. Her works include a novel shortlisted for a national award, short stories published in Indonesia and abroad, and a film-to-novel adaptation. She has translated and edited a wide range of books, from George Orwell and Albert Camus to Clarice Lispector and Fernanda Melchor, as well as academic works and cultural studies. Her translations appear in journals such as Kyoto Review of Southeast Asia and in books on politics, history, and the arts. Versatile and precise, she bridges languages and disciplines with clarity and literary sensitivity.
Her current research engages with cognitive and affective labor in relation to democracy and the idea of creating an assembly, building on her undergraduate thesis soon to be published. She also draws on intersectional feminism and queer theory to examine how systems of power, identity, and economy shape cultural production and everyday life.
Alongside her writing and research, Michellia is an active participant in the literary community. She has spoken at and moderated events at major festivals, including the Makassar International Writers Festival (MIWF), Jakarta International Literary Festival (JILF), and Ubud Writers & Readers Festival (UWRF), fostering critical dialogue at the intersections of literature, society, and cultural politics.
